Did you know that most dog allergies are related to their diets?
Specific breeds of dogs like poodles, golden retrievers, and bulldogs are notorious for skin and ear allergies!
While some dogs may be allergic to certain proteins (the most common is chicken), most dogs are reacting to the corn, wheat, or soy in a food. Check your Dog Food ingredient list on the back of the bag - if you see corn, wheat, soy, or any versions of these in the first 5 ingredients - it's a huge no-no for dogs with allergies or GI upset! Dogs don't have the enzyme necessary to break these foods down and use them appropriately.
Here's the 2 best things you can do for a dog with allergies:
1) Get them onto a food that ONLY has 1 protein source and 1 carbohydrate source - call us, we can recommend foods that we carry or that you kind find at other stores here in Chula Vista. (California Natural a great one we carry).

Change your dog's diet very gradually so they don't end up with the "runs". It may take up to 1 or 2 months before you'll see a big change, because it may take your dog's system that long to rid itself of the allergens it has built up.
